Mars glanced back at the dancing leaves and her grin widened just a bit, which was difficult considering it she was already pushing her smile-limit. Her small paws hit the ground and it responded with muted thuds. The border collie remembered a time when her parents would tell her stories of their dog agility glory days. They would speed through tunnels and weave through sticks, even balance on a teeter. How they won ribbons and titles and all that. It was what they were bred for, and sometimes she wishes she could have seen them in action.
Instead, while she sped through the forest, she made up obstacles of her own. Mars' tongue lolled out of her mouth lazily as the collie picked up speed. She ducked under a few low branches, but if she was sure she could make it, she jumped over them, cursing herself when her back paws hit the tree. Her mother told her that would be a penalty in agility. Sometimes she couldn't help herself, though. She just got too excited and wasn't careful. Oh, how she loved to run. But when she did so, she always drifted away from reality. All she cared about was gaining more and more speed. She was lucky she hadn't tripped on a root or something yet.
The wind whipped and splayed her fur everywhere. But Mars' eyes were focused ahead, and all she could hear was the pounding of her own heart. The border collie's ears perked as she found a row of trees relatively close to each other. "The weaves were always the hardest. You must twist and turn very quickly without getting confused and skipping a pole," Venus had once told her. Surely it wasn't too hard. Mars headed that way, swerving around the first tree's base, going around the opposite side of the next tree. She did this three more times before the row of trees ended, and she laughed aloud. See, it wasn't too difficult! Mars closed her eyes and turned her head to the right for a brief moment to congratulate herself, but she didn't slow down.
Which was a total mistake, she knew, when she hit a tree chest-first. Mars let out a yelp and crashed, sliding to a stop on the forest floor. A groan escaped her throat and she didn't even try to move. Yes. Big mistake.
ooc LET THE GAMES BEGIN.
