That stupid, stupid feeling that she often felt in the pits of her stomach. Mars squeezed her eyes shut tight, mentally sighing. She had just begun to get comfortable. That feeling that was stretching its fingers through her was what made her fur itch and her nose twitch. The female needed to move, and soon. Ugh, what a drag, she thought. This was a nice place. But, as she has come to find out, protesting her restless thoughts was futile. Mars grunted as she shoved herself off of the forest floor and dipped down to stretch her forelegs. A far away bird call made her ears flick, and she set out to go wherever her paws take her.
Her brown gaze traced the trees lazily, watching the sunlight dance between their branches. Mars began to feel the heat of the summer seep into her skin as the greenery became less and less frequent. Her tongue lolled out the side of her mouth as she continued on, dodging shrubs and picking up speed. Oh, how she hoped to find some water around. Even if it's not drinkable, she'd go for a nice swim right about now. Scanning her surroundings, Mars couldn't catch any sign of a lake or ocean nearby. The border collie halted her paces and sighed dramatically. She was on an island. How could it be difficult to find water? Her nails pierced the grass underfoot.
A few seconds later, a cool breeze hit her in the face like a ton of bricks. She perked, turning her face into the wind. Oh, yes. There was the water. The female quickly turned tail and sped off into the gust of air. Mars certainly wasn't graceful, but she was fast. Her eyes lit as the beach came into sight. A grin graced her muzzle and she pushed herself until her paws hit the clear water. On a childish impulse, the border collie splashed around a bit in the more shallow water, spraying it outward. Mars caught herself and quickly regained composure. She waded out farther, until the water was halfway up her chest. She stood still, relieving her scorching skin.
Mars dipped her muzzle into the water, but made sure to not open her jaws. This liquid might be clear, but it didn't look like it was enclosed. It was probably ocean water, and she'd made that mistake once. That stuff was frickin' nasty. A shudder ran down her spine at the thought. She pushed herself further into the water and took a seat, looking over her shoulder. Right now would be the perfect time for another dog to jump her. She's distracted. Mars mentally scolds herself. She definitely should not drop her guard like that. But then again, she's encountered no one so far on this little peninsula. She shrugged and cast her gaze back out to the horizon. It was weird that the ocean blended so much with the sky when they are totally different things.
A few minutes of quiet went by and she let her mind go blank. Yes, this place was nice. She supposed she could stay a while.
ooc hope it's okay! just getting the feel for her. i'm excited. <3

This probably wasn't the best idea Wicked had ever had. In fact, he was sure he should go over and just introduce himself instead of sitting on the sidelines watching the girl but, in all honesty, he had been here first so he didn't exactly find it necessary. Besides, when he was getting this much entertainment out of watching the little mutt splash around in the water, he couldn't bring himself to ruin the joy. Or even think about how he would introduce himself to her. Maybe he could just walk up and say, "Hey sexy thing. What's a girl like you doing without a bodyguard? Surely your partner would disapprove." The husky snorted with delight. Sure, that would be an interesting first introduction, but it wasn't quite what he wanted to say. After all, this dog seemed to be a little on the conservative side.
But man, was she an object or desire or what? She was clearly of collie descent just by the way she carried that curvy body of hers. She was smaller than Wick: falling to the height of his shoulder. Not to mention was an athletic looking dog with long, slender legs, a curvy, thin waist, and her paws were tightly compact. Her coat was beautiful, too, with a simple white base, black blanket, and tan points. Her face was cute like a child's, but that didn't keep him from thinking about how her body would feel pressed into his own. He couldn't help but think it would fit into the crevices of his own perfectly and they'd somehow glue together like two matching pieces of a broken vase.
The male shook himself from his thoughts, studying the female for another minute before he finally decided it would be best just to introduce himself so she didn't think he was a total creep. Boy, would that kill the mood. Wicked pushed himself to his feet, slowly stretching his muscles out before he began trotting down the small hill he had managed to climb earlier so he could keep an eye on the water for an opportunity to possibly catch a fish in the water.
As he drew closer to the water where the female was at play, the male managed to plaster a smile on his face for her enjoyment. He stood close enough for the water to come up around his paws, but far enough away so he didn't scare off the creature. He cleared his throat softly before speaking up to the little water fairy, "Didn't you know trespasser will be shot? There's a sign somewhere around here." A sly smile lit up his face as he continued to talk, "But I suppose I could cut you a break. As a favor. What's your name, pretty thing?"
ooc. Eh. This took a while to write. lol.

Who knew sitting in a pool of water could feel so damn good? And when was the last time she actually slept? Mars didn't even have the energy to answer herself. The border collie attempted to stay awake by locking her gaze on a few puffy clouds in the sky. Her folded ears fall back, looking erect. Focus on the clouds, focus on the clouds. They were very pretty, if she did say so herself. One of them even looked a bit like--
A surprised cry left her lips as her head fell forward into the water. She got distracted, again. Quickly standing up, she shook her pelt out as much as she could. Which didn't really help, seeing as though she was currently standing in the water. An annoyed groan slid from her throat. At least no one was there to see her.
Mars just about jumped out of her skin when she heard an attention-grabbing noise behind her. The border collie spun around, her eyes quickly catching the looming form at the water's edge. Even though her pulse was pounding in her ears, her heartbeat felt like it skyrocketed once she was able to drink in this male. His fur was a brilliant red draped over a white base coat. And, oh, his eyes. They were a striking blue, even from where she was standing. The brute's tail was draped lazily over his well-structured back. Mars blinked quickly when he started to speak to her.
"Didn't you know trespasser will be shot? There's a sign somewhere around here."
She didn't answer. The husky was smiling, but still, she wasn't sure what to make of his comment. She'd been around too many brutes that would say things like that and be dead serious. So her muscles relaxed just a fraction when she realized he was hitting on her. Mars met his gaze with curiosity. "I'm Mars," she said, keeping her voice smooth. She was on the line of trusting him or running away before anything goes wrong with him.
Mars didn't come closer to the husky, but cocked her head at him. "You afraid of water or something?" she teased lightly, trying to get a sense of this dog. She sat back on her haunches, her eyes never leaving his solid form. The female wished he wasn't so damn handsome. She did not need to be distracted by his looks. "And what about you? I'm sure you have a name."
ooc yay!

"I'm Mars," she spoke and, at first Wicked almost didn't hear what the little collie had said but then he was able to decipher what she'd said. Mars. It was a suiting name for the female, even though he didn't know much about the actual planet Mars. His knowledge about the planet was basic. Actually, the only thing he knew about it was that is was a planet. Even still, he liked the way the name matched her face in a way the male couldn't really describe. It made him think of his birth name Wicker. Each time he saw those piercing blue eyes staring back at him Wicked was glad he had lost his actual name when he'd joined those males. He was sure his mother would be so disappointed if he had associated the gang with "Wicker". Sometimes, when he really wanted to escape his past, he'd even introduce himself as Wicker, but this time wasn't one of those times.
"You afraid of water or something?" her tone was light, playful and suddenly Wicked was sure this girl was perfect for him in the long run, even if he had no intentions of settling down. In fact, his gut feeling was screaming for him to run because, if he stuck around, he knew he would most likely love this girl. Whether it be a friendly love or maybe even a love that's beyond his control. All he knew was that if he allowed his heart to love this girl, something bad would happen. But, instead of turning and running, the male chose to be selfish and stick around. He didn't care if he hurt her because, no matter how long he stuck around, he wasn't going to allow such a thing to happen. If only for his own sake.
The male cast his head down, pulling his paw away from the incoming wave and tucked it close to his chest like a pointer would. "A big, bad dog like me? No. I'm not afraid, I'm simply trying not to over power you. Unless you don't mind me getting a closer look." he spoke, slowly making his way closer to the female who stood in chest-deep water. Wicked was deliberate in making his movements slow so she wouldn't take his movements as a threat, but at the same time he couldn't stop his tail from falling down by his legs and twitching with excitement.
Right as the male settled in the water just a few feet away from her, where the water came up and surrounded a third of his legs, the female was talking to him again in a more confident tone, "And what about you? I'm sure you have a name." Wicked cocked his head in a thoughtful manner, thinking about whether he should just hand over his name. She seemed like a nice girl, but what if the mere presence of his name scared her off? "That's a good question, Mars." he spoke, a tickle running down his spine when he spoke her name. Oh how he loved the way her name rolled off of his tongue. It was like a candy: it tastes so good, but it's so bad for you.
"You can call me Wick. Short for Wicked."
ooc. A decent post. I love them already. <3

But she felt a rush of gratefulness toward the male and her cheeks felt hot. While he was clearly trying to be smooth, he was doing his best to not scare her off, to not look like someone that would take advantage of her without her consent. She'd been there, done that. This striking brute was actually being a bit careful around her. It was weird, the way it made her feel sort of. . . safe around him. Mars probably shouldn't think that, because dear God, she'd only just met him. She didn't even know his name.
She snapped back to reality when he started wading into the water. Mars' eyes caught on the subtle way his muscles shifted beneath his pelt and she forced herself to glance away. His broken reflection in the ripples of the water stared back at her, and she watched as his head cocked when she spoke. Dragging her eyes back up to his controlled face, Mars tried not to notice the way her pulse picked up when he said her name so carefully. She brushed the thought away when he finally gave her his name.
Wicked. That was this brute's name. Perhaps his parents just had an odd sense of humor. Right? Well, she'll call him Wick, like he wanted. The border collie stood, the droplets rushing off her back and plopping back into the water where they belong. Mars couldn't help it, when she passed the husky she turned her muzzle to almost brush her nose against his but intentionally missing before looking ahead. She plopped down closer to the shore where she could lay down and not drown, but still only a few feet from Wick.
"If you don't mind me asking, Wick," she spoke almost hesitantly, "how does one receive a name like that?" Mars questioned. She flicked her ears at the brute, gauging his reactions. She didn't want to push so soon, and she felt as though his name had a story behind it. Or, she had him pegged all wrong and his mother was just really creative with names. After all, she was a dog named after a planet.
ooc they are officially my otp no matter what happens.

This girl was different from all the other girls he'd ever met. Most of the time there really wasn't a need for names because they were just an easy catch the male intended to never see again, but, whereas most would just write his mother off as crazy, this girl truly cared about how he got the name. Maybe she was just scared of the truth: he'd joined a group of bad dogs, raped a girl, and then ended up being thrown out for wanting to kill his own brother. Listening to his story in his head, Wicked knew if he were to ever tell Mars this, she would never understand his logic in doing what he'd done. Even Wick wasn't sure he understood his logic at the time, but no matter the amount of remorse he showed for his actions, he couldn't take them back. So, instead, he chose to live with the repercussions of his actions and, god forbid, if he ever found that girl again, Wicked knew he would lose it.
The male decided a short story would do the trick so, twisting back around so he could face her, Wick began to speak, "My mother wasn't crazy, I assure you. There was a time when I ran with the wrong code and my brother and my birth name Wicker didn't exactly fit their standards. Then things between my brother and I caused a really bad fight and I was kicked out. I suppose it wasn't the best decision I've ever made, but once you get in the habit of saying it it's hard to stop without reason." The male idly drew patterns in the water with his nose skimming the surface. He knew he was avoiding the collie's gaze and he knew he shouldn't do that otherwise it would plant a seed of doubt in Mars' beautiful mind, but he could bring himself to look at her in fear of seeing the face of his mistake.
"Needless to say, it wasn't my best decision. But what can you do? I don't intend on trying to run from my past by changing my name back so I'm stuck with Wicked." he spoke again, finally removing his nose from the water to look back at her. Though the male had managed to avoid wandering eyes up until this point, he really needed the distraction so his eyes began to wander over Mars' body, drinking in what beauty he hadn't seen from afar. She really was a working breed: she was slim, but still had muscle from being an athletic dog and, most likely, wandering around. After all, she didn't seem to be the type that liked to be bored out of her mind.
He drank in Mars' body greedily even though he knew he should try to restart the conversation onto another topic. After a moment the male finally returned her eye contact, drawing closer to her near the shore and lying in the water next to her, his back enduring every cold wave that insisted on crawling up his spine and tickling his senses. "Enough about me. Since we're on the topic, why Mars?" he spoke, watching the sand gradually being devoured by the water.
ooc. I don't know where my muse is, honestly. I feel like I'm hardly giving you anything. Maybe I just need more time to get in character. </3

Didn't dogs like him just swoop in for what they wanted? Assuming he wanted something from her. Which he probably did. Anyway, she was happy to listen to him. Mars noted the pause between her question about his name and his answer. It was either a touchy topic or he was wracking the crevices of his brain for a good story. The border collie wouldn't put it past him.
But it seemed to be the former. Wick had turned to face her but did not meet her eyes. Hmm. Anyway, she wished he would. They were very captivating eyes. A smile hit the collie's lips when he assured her that, no, his mother was not crazy. That was always a good thing. Her gaze followed his face as he dipped the tip of his muzzle into the clear water, creating tiny ripples. He seemed a bit lost in his mind. Her ears perked up at the bit that he'd once been running with, what she assumed, was a bunch of other males. Mars dug her nail absentmindedly into the sand.
So he had a brother, and his birth name was Wicker. Fallout with his brother and he was kicked out. It was funny, how quickly you could go from being at the top of things and then sent straight to the bottom. And by funny, she meant not funny at all. Once again the male had surprised her at the amount of information he gave her. He certainly had no obligations to tell these things to anyone let alone a stranger. Her eyes found his face again when he told her he had no intention of running from his past. That made sense to her.
After a few seconds of silence, Mars watched him skim her body. Her skin felt flushed. She's been around males before, and while not everyone was so blatantly appreciative, she should be used to it. But she's not. The border collie tucked her front paws in closer to her chest and cleared her throat before answering his question. Surely she could be honest about such a little question when he had given her all of that information about him.
"My mother had a thing for the sky. When she was a pet before the earthquake, she'd sit out at night and memorize constellations and stuff. Not really my thing, but whatever. She loved planets above all, though, so when she had me and my brothers, she named us after her favorites: Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Mars," she finished. Mars realized that was a lot of talking in one period and he probably wasn't that interested in whatever she was saying about her name, anyway. She mentally shrugged.
Mars leaned a bit more on her side, keeping her gaze steady on the husky. His coat was becoming a nice mix of colors as the sun was reaching closer to the horizon. She picked up a paw and splashed it near him, flinging droplets everywhere. "I get that you're trying to move forward, which is always good," she said, turning the topic back to him, "but Wicker does have a nice ring to it. Your mother has good taste." She cocked her head and squinted slightly at him. "So now that you've got no frat boy gang, do you travel alone? Or have you found a new one?"
ooc sorry this is longer than i wanted it to be but hopefully it helps with your reply. not that they're bad at all! <3

"My mother had a thing for the sky. When she was a pet before the earthquake, she'd sit out at night and memorize constellations and stuff. Not really my thing, but whatever. She loved planets above all, though, so when she had me and my brothers, she named us after her favorites: Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Mars," Mars spoke, her sweet voice ringing in Wicked's ears. He couldn't help it, he absolutely loved how smooth her voice was when she spoke to him. It was soothing and sexy in a way that not only made him feel like he could take a nap right then and there but was also slightly turning him on. But, then again, maybe he should steer his thoughts away from that for Mars' sake. He didn't want to be in the mood while she talked about her family and her siblings: that was just a little too weird. Even for Wicked.
A light smile once again brushed his maw even though it had been previously wiped away by the storm of his past. Wicked was upset by his past but, unlike most, he wasn't upset for himself. Sure, he'd been beaten down, kicked around, and left behind by his own flesh and blood, but at the same time he knew it was his fault. He was the one that wanted to join the gang, he was the one that hurt the girl, and he was the one who allowed himself to be teased by the members by making the wrong choice. Life had truly sucked on his end of the spectrum, but he figured it could still have been worse for him like it had been for the girl.
Pulling himself out of his thoughts, he caught the female's next words, "I get that you're trying to move forward, which is always good, but Wicker does have a nice ring to it. Your mother has good taste." At this he gave a mental shrug, shaking off the compliment. "Yeah, my mother made it hard for any girl to measure up to her." he said simply, his head pointing his nose to the sky as he watched the sun paint the sky a pale orange color, bidding the world goodbye for the night. "So now that you've got no frat boy gang, do you travel alone? Or have you found a new one?" Mars' sweet voice drew his eyes back to her own before they returned back to the sky, a sly smile on his muzzle.
He probably shouldn't have read into it the way he, but he couldn't help it. The way she had phrased it was crystal clear: she wanted to know if he'd really left his past behind and given up on the gang life, but he couldn't help but think at the same time a little piece of her wanted to know if he had a partner and, possibly, offspring. He gave a smirk as he pushed himself to his feet and walked up onto the beach, shaking out the last few drops that clung to his coat lazily. "Well I certainly don't have a girl on my arm. Or a gang. So why don't we take a walk and find someplace a little warmer? After all, you wouldn't want to get sick and totally ruin the memory, would you?" he said, his tail brushing across his back slowly with the growing excitement putting pressure on his chest.

Was he a momma's boy? Well, that was frickin' adorable. He really needed to stop that. Being so adorable. He was already handsome, especially now that the sky had erupted in the color of his pelt. And it was coming from behind him like some kind of damn halo and she really needed to move her position before he stared to think her staring was getting creepy. Thankfully Wick moved before she had to and started toward the shore.
Why was she still here? Why hadn't she bolted before the engaged in conversation? Beside his good looks, her first instinct is usually to run before she got into trouble when she saw a new dog, especially a male. But something had tugged her and held her down, restricting her from moving when she saw Wicked. Mars couldn't really explain it and really didn't want to try. If someone had asked her right then why she had stayed, she probably would have just stared into space.
Her brown gaze followed him as he stood and shook his pelt out on the shore. Mars squinted and looked the other way in an attempt to avoid flying water drops. Her ears twitched when she felt a few stray droplets, but soon enough her eyes found his form again. She glanced at his mouth when he started to speak. Her heart started to beat a little faster when he outright told her he did not have a girl. She didn't suspect he did, with all the flirting and all, but it was nice to know for sure. And he didn't have a gang of immature boys, either.
Mars was hesitant when he offered the walk. What if he had been lying to her? If he really did have a pack and they just so happen to run into them on this walk? The border collie shifted and glanced back at the setting sun. He had been honest with her so far, it seemed. Surely he deserved a tiny bit of trust. And if this really was some sick plan, she'd bolt. She was pretty fast. Most of the brutes in gangs were all muscle and no speed. She took and breath and shoved herself up, regaining composure. "Someplace warmer sounds nice," she commented with a smile. She, in turn, shook out her fur and brushed flanks with him as she passed him. A small laugh erupted from her throat. "I certainly wouldn't want to ruin this memory." Mars paused her steps before looking at Wick with gleaming eyes. "Though, right now, all I have to remember is a handsome brute with an interesting name. What else should I remember about this night, Wicked?" She watched him carefully, enjoying the sight of him in the fiery sunlight. His eyes seemed almost a ghostly color in this lighting. It made her stomach flutter.
ooc i hope this was okay poi. and yes, mars was attempting to be suggestive in her last comment.
