Eight years after a tragic earthquake shook the bay area, most have found refuge on an island in the center of the bay, Angel Island. The conflicts between animals have begun to die down and food is more of an issue at this point. The population has grown since the first discoveries of the island. Many animals are still alive to remember the tradgedy, others born later and told stories of the big shake. While some try to keep to themselves and mind their own, others are just aching to start a fight. With food growing scarce and shelter harder to find, it's times like these you really 'oughta watch your back. Who can you trust?

The harsh rains have begun to die down, but the cold continues. Fog is thick and plant life remains scarce as spring starts off slow this year. The island is currently a vast wasteland, with few greens sprouting up. Birds and other prey animals are beginning make their way back to the island, in smaller numbers than last year. Most litters born this season are not likely to survive in these conditions.
